Rejection

In my day to day work as a clinical psychologist, I deal with many relationship issues.

Relationships with family, friends and partners. In maintaining a healthy relationship with your partner, we all face the possibility of being rejected. It is important to be confident enough to reach out to those around us and risk the rejection we can sometimes feel when we are afraid that our feelings will not be reciprocated or acknowledged. Rejection is a normal part of life and is unavoidable when we want to pursue healthy, long term relationships. Having the courage to ask for what you want or need; being able to set boundaries; saying “no” to abusive behaviours, can in the long run be more beneficial than the pain of rejection.
